About Us

Established in 1926 and family owned since 1942, East Bay Nursery has come to span the better half of a large city block. We specialize in selection and more selection. Together with our size, this means that we have an incredibly diverse palette of plants from which to choose from as well as having plants available in many sizes. Our selection of large specimen plants is unsurpassed anywhere in the Greater East Bay region. You will find natives and drought tolerant plants from around the world, succulents, fruit trees, grasses, perennials, Japanese Maples, shade plants, shrubs, trees, veggie starts, terra-cotta pottery from Europe as well as glazed and terra-cotta pots from the Pacific Rim.

Our Bedding Department offers a wonderful selection of annuals, perennials, ground covers, and organically focused vegetable starts in cell packs and 4 inch pots. The crew in Bedding works hard to provide imaginative color themed displays to help you find your style and achieve the look you desire and they put together some fantasticly beautiful color baskets and hanging baskets which will knock your socks off.

As you enter the Nursery from San Pablo Avenue, you will find wonderful seasonal displays suggesting plant and color combinations you can use in your garden. Our displays feature current trends and good old tried and true styles. As you begin walking through the Nursery, you will notice the information we provide about our plants is completely unique to EBN. We have built a sign data base which currently includes over 10,000 different plants, varieties, and cultivars. The information has been customized and tailored to our Bay Area climate to improve the success of your garden. Our integrated labeling system insures that when you get your nursery plants home you have, on the containers, the exact information that was provided on the signs. Many of our customers save these labels in a notebook for future reference.

When selecting products for our store, whether it is our soil amendments, insecticides, fungicides, or fertilizers, we choose products that we would use in our own gardens. This means that we have almost completely converted to ORGANICS. We do still carry other selections and options but will always suggest the ORGANICS first.

Our crew is hard working, helpful, and knowledgeable. They take pride in their work, whether it is providing customer service, building displays, or caring for the plants, and strive to be the best at what ever they are doing. If you have any questions or need help please, do not hesitate to ask any one of our crew.

We hope to see you at the nursery soon.
